Laine Skopiņa, an individually practicing sworn attorney.
Practicing law since 1995 in major law offices has given me significant experience representing clients in all manner of transactions and acting as regular outside counsel to corporate clients. My strongest specializations are Corporate & Commercial Law, Real Estate, Labour Law and Mergers & Acquisitions. The legal assistance includes consultations on law and practice, preparation and conduct of transactions, participation in negotiations, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in courts and before administrative bodies.

Real Estate Law

I provide legal support to clients in all types of real estate transactions, advise on real estate acquisition, sale, lease and rental, mortgage, division of real estate, management, as well as guide full scale development projects. This includes drafting of all necessary contracts and other legal documents, whether sophisticated or straightforward.

Commercial Law

When advising clients on corporate law matters. I prepare all the necessary documents for the formation of a new company, the implementation and registration of all manner of corporate changes, the reorganisation, restructuring, and liquidation of businesses. My work includes legal due diligence done before any important transaction. I help to resolve conflicts in the field of commercial law, as well as consult in the sale and acquisition of companies. Companies value my support on issues related to day-to-day business and commercial transactions.

Labour Law

Assistance to clients in the field of labour law includes consulting my clients on employment relationships, and on the rights and the duties of the employer and the employee in accordance with the legislation of Latvia. I draft employment contracts, confidentiality and non-compete agreements, internal rules of procedure and other documents important for the management of personnel. Clients seek out my advocacy in individual and collective labour disputes.

Representation in court

I advise in dispute resolution and represent clients in all levels of court proceedings in civil disputes and administrative proceedings. My primary focus for court litigation is in the areas of Real Estate Law, Labour Law and Commercial Law.

My Experience

More than twenty-five years of experience in providing legal services to clients.
I specialize in legal assistance to companies and corporate clients, providing daily legal support.
In 1990, I graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia.
In 1991, I graduated from the Institute of International Affairs of the University of Latvia, completing post-graduate studies in International Law and Economic Relations.
Since 1997, I am a member of The Latvian Collegium of Sworn Advocates.
Since 2018, I am an individually practicing sworn attorney.
For several years, I have been active at the Real Estate Committee of the International Bar Association.
Considering my previous experience and practice working with clients, and understanding their needs for high quality legal assistance and personal treatment, I have chosen to practice individually and directly, providing clients with the necessary legal assistance in my areas of expertise. Fairness and ethics are important to me in my practice.
